Real companies. Real licenses.

Our Vetting Process

How a company gets approved

Anyone can list on Yelp. Not anyone can list on security.gift. Here's exactly what we verify before a partner goes live.

01

TX DPS license verified live

Every applicant company is run against the live Texas DPS Private Security database. License must be current, active, and Class B. Expired or suspended licenses are rejected, no exceptions.

02

Liability insurance confirmed

We require a current Certificate of Insurance from a recognized carrier — minimum $1M general liability for unarmed work, $2M for armed details. We call the carrier to confirm coverage is active.

03

Operating history checked

Years in business, public reviews, and BBB record reviewed. We ask for two references from past clients and call them. New companies welcome — they're held to the same standards as veteran ones.

04

Professional standards agreed

Officers arrive in standard professional attire (black suit and tie for most details, specified tactical gear when the assignment calls for it). Companies sign our partner agreement before going live.

Services

Pick the tier that fits the job.

Four service tiers, each tied to a specific Texas DPS license class — booked short-term, by the hour, the day, or the event with a simple contract you sign online. Not sure which one you need? Tap a card to see what it's for, who books it, and what the officer actually does on the day.

Frequently Asked

Common questions

Everything you need to know before booking. Still have questions? Talk to us.

How quickly can I book a security guard in Texas?+

Most non-emergency bookings are matched with a licensed security professional within an hour. Same-day requests for armed officers (Level III) and personal protection (Level IV) typically need 2–4 hours of lead time so the partner company can dispatch the right officer.

Are your security guards licensed in Texas?+

Yes. Every officer on the security.gift platform works for a security company licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (TX DPS). Unarmed officers hold a Level II (Non-Commissioned) license, armed guards hold Level III (Commissioned), and personal protection officers hold Level IV (PPO). We verify the licensing of partner companies before they go live on the platform.

How much does private security cost in Texas?+

Pricing starts at $35/hour for Level II unarmed officers, $55/hour for Level III armed guards, and $85/hour for Level IV personal protection. Private investigations start at $150. Final pricing is set by the partner company based on the assignment, but you'll see an estimate before you confirm the booking.

What's the difference between Level II, III, and IV security?+

Level II officers are unarmed — great for access control, event check-in, and visible deterrence. Level III officers are armed and trained to respond to higher-risk situations. Level IV (Personal Protection Officer) is the most specialized — dedicated close-protection trained in executive security, defensive driving, and advance planning.

Do guards arrive in uniform?+

Yes. Partner companies on security.gift maintain a professional standard — black suit and tie for most details, or specified tactical gear when the assignment requires it. Discreet plainclothes protection is available for Level IV bookings when requested.

Are security.gift partner companies veteran-led?+

Many of them are. We actively recruit veteran-owned and veteran-led security companies, and we flag them in the directory. Supporting veterans transitioning into civilian security work is a core part of the platform's mission.

Which Texas cities do you serve?+

The platform covers all major Texas metros — Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, and surrounding areas — plus most mid-sized cities. We're continuously onboarding new partner companies; if your area isn't covered today, we'll match you with the closest available officer.

Can I cancel or refund a booking?+

Yes — bookings can be cancelled before an officer is assigned for a full refund. After assignment, cancellation policies follow the partner company's terms, which are shown on the booking confirmation.
